Beach Bum Montipora

Montipora palawensis, often called a “monti,” is a hardy SPS coral known for its encrusting to plating growth and textured surface structure. As it matures, it develops layered contours that add depth and architectural detail to reef aquariums.

Palawensis varieties perform well in stable mixed and SPS-dominant systems and tend to prefer slightly lower light compared to other Montipora species, rewarding consistent reef parameters with steady growth and coloration.

Care: Moderate light, moderate flow, and stable alkalinity and calcium.
Growth: Moderate under steady conditions.
Placement: Mid-level rockwork with room to expand outward.
