The Blue‑Eyed Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus binotatus)—also known as the Two‑Spot Bristletooth—is a vibrant reef-safe tang recognized for its striking blue eyes and constant algae-grazing behavior. Every specimen at TSM Aquatics undergoes a full 30-day quarantine in our Pennsauken, NJ facility, ensuring fish arrive healthy, eating, and tank-ready.

  • Care Level: Moderate – ideal for reef hobbyists with some experience

  • Diet: Herbivore – devoted algae grazer; thrives on nori, sea veggies, and algae-based flakes

  • Temperament: Peaceful to semi-aggressive – may act defensively toward other tangs

  • Tank Size: 70 gallons or larger

  • Max Size: ~8 inches

  • Compatibility: Reef-safe – excellent in community or reef setups where corals are undisturbed

  • Origin: Indo-Pacific, wide distribution from Africa to the Tuamotu Islands

  • Notes: Provides strong algae control and works well with SPS/LPS corals; best kept single or introduced with other tangs simultaneously to avoid territorial behavior
